Educating You

I so wanted to put Educating Rita as the title to this post, but lets be honest, that would have made no sense. We are all for making sense here.

Just like yesterday I am struggling with this one. I have to educate you, dear readers, on something I know a lot about.
You see there lies the problem, something I know a lot about. I don't know a lot about anything. I know a little about a lot, but not vice versa.
Although I do know I have now confused you greatly and I just have to get on with this thing.

So, what to educate you are about. There are the obvious things:

All these things I have spent my academic career studying. It would make sense for me to educate you on these topics. I'm sure you've guessed by now that I'm not going to speak to you about any of these things. I'm going to educate you on what I believe to be the most important topic anyone can know a lot about; people.

Your saying, 'Helen, really, people? I hang out with people every single day. I think I know enough about them'.

Do you really? Do you ever actually take the time to study people? Especially those close to you.

I don't have all the answers in fact I'm probably just a clueless as you are.
What I do know is that as people we are searching. Always searching for something new and exciting, or old and comforting. Nothing is ever good enough.
We all have times in our lives where we feel terribly lonely. We all have moments when we feel like anger will consume us. There are always going to be times when we hurt each other.
When people cause bad things to happen, as we have seen recently, it is hard to see the good. It is natural for us to shut up our homes and hearts from those we believe will hurt us. This is no good for us.
I am one of the those naive people who will always strive to see the good in people, the human race as one giving and loving entity.

Reading back through this it probably hasn't been an education for you, but if just one of you asks why someone reacted the way they did. Are they suffering? Can I help? This mini education/rambling will have been worth it. There are some bad people in the world, some very bad people, but don't let them mask the good.

I like that last bit... "There are some bad people in the world, some very bad people, but don't let them mask the good."

This is so very true. It's hard to be able to trust people in the world we live in today.

So true. People are so important, children teach me the most. And they are more reliable in some ways too...
